What is the Angel Fund?
The purpose of the Angel Fund is to provide essentials, basic and emergency needs to North Branch Area students. The Angel Fund is under the umbrella of the North Branch Area Education Foundation (NBAEF). Monies raised specifically for the Angel Fund are separate from the NBAEF general/grant fund.
Who makes a referral to the Angel Fund for student needs?
There is a referral form available to counselors and staff members. It is simple, easy, and private.
What happens after a referral?
The school counselor evaluates the need and will contact the family to get approval for the request. The name of the person making the referral is not shared with the student or family. Once approval is given, a designated shopper is assigned the task of getting the item and returning the item to the counselor who will give the item to the student. Designated shoppers are reimbursed for the items purchased.
Who is eligible to receive items from the Angel Fund?
Any NBAPS student including students in Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) and STEP.
What items will the Angel Fund provide?*
The Angel Fund will provide clothing, toiletries, school supplies, outerwear/shoes and boots, fees for college testing and other curriculum based fees, school snacks, and a limited amount of food items.
What items are NOT eligible for the Angel Fund?
Household bills, medical bills, credit debt, toys, activity fees, parking fees, gas, a la carte food, digital electronic devices, jewelry, and other similar items will not be supplied by the Angel Fund.
*Some unique or special situations may be considered at the committee’s discretion for partial or full funding. For example: prom, yearbook, school pictures, school related experiences/field trips
Where does the Angel Fund get their money?
The Angel Fund receives donations from various individuals, businesses, and raises money through special events.
How much money does each NBAPS building get?
Each school is provided with money based on the number of students they serve. Money is also held in reserve to take care of additional needs.
